LEVEL has launched a new LGBTQ+ Domestic Abuse First Aid Kit, designed to help people offer safe, practical and informed support to LGBTQ+ victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
Domestic abuse can affect anyone, but LGBTQ+ people can face additional barriers when seeking help. Fear of discrimination, being outed or not being understood can make it harder to access support.
The new resource is designed for everyone, including friends, family members and professionals who may be supporting someone experiencing domestic abuse. It explains what domestic abuse can look like, explores the specific challenges LGBTQ+ people may face, and offers practical guidance on safety planning, considering leaving an abusive situation and finding further help.
The aim is simple: to help more people recognise domestic abuse, respond with understanding and connect LGBTQ+ victims and survivors with the right support.
The LGBTQ+ Domestic Abuse First Aid Kit is available to download now and view below.
LEVEL is a joint project between Brunswick and WomenCentre, providing specialist domestic abuse support for victims and survivors, alongside support for people who cause harm and LGBTQ+ community engagement across Calderdale and Kirklees.
