Summer of Pride

This summer, the LEVEL programme has been proud to attend Pride events across Calderdale and Kirklees, raising awareness of our new and inclusive approach to tackling domestic abuse within LGBTQ+ communities.

This included Kirklees (Huddersfield), Batley, Happy Valley (Hebden Bridge) and Calderdale (Halifax) Pride events.

LEVEL is a 22-week, one-to-one behaviour change programme for LGBTQ+ individuals who have caused harm in their relationships. Alongside this, we provide support for those who have been harmed – including current and ex-partners – with a strong focus on safety, accountability, and recovery.

Being part of local Pride events has given us the chance to connect with the community, share information, and highlight the importance of addressing domestic abuse in a way that is inclusive and accessible. Domestic abuse impacts LGBTQ+ people too, yet services are often limited or not tailored to their needs. LEVEL is designed to change that, filling a clear gap in current provision.

By working in partnership and centring the voices of those with lived experience, LEVEL aims to challenge harmful behaviours, support healing, and create safer, healthier relationships across our communities.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall over the summer to find out more, ask questions, and show support. Your engagement makes a real difference in helping to raise awareness and build safer futures.

We were delighted to be part of The Brunswick Centre team who were promoting a range of LGBTQ+ wellbeing initiatives as part of the Well Proud campaign. From substance use support to mental health services, HIV prevention, and regular health checks, Well Proud connects people with vital resources in a welcoming, judgement-free way.
