October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month

This October, we join organisations across the UK and beyond in marking Domestic Abuse Awareness Month. It’s a time to shine a light on an issue that is often hidden, yet affects people in every community.

Domestic abuse isn’t just physical – it can be emotional, financial, or controlling behaviour. For LGBTQ+ people, there can be extra barriers to speaking out or finding support, which is why raising awareness is so important.

At LEVEL, we’re committed to breaking the silence around domestic abuse in LGBTQ+ relationships. By talking openly, challenging stigma, and making support more visible, we can help ensure that no one faces abuse alone.

Throughout October, we’ll be sharing information  to raise awareness and signpost where help is available.

How to Participate

  • Wear Purple: On Thursday, October 23, 2025, participate in Purple Thursday by wearing purple to show your support for survivors and to signify you are a safe person to talk to.
  • Share on Social Media: Post photos of yourself wearing purple using the hashtags #Every1KnowsSome1 and #DVAM to show your solidarity.
  • Educate Yourself and Others: Share information and bust myths about domestic violence to increase awareness.

Support is out there. Find out more about LEVEL and get in touch.
